She holds an Msc International Development from the University of Edinburgh and an LLB from the University of Nairobi. Angeline Abuor is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Youth Organisation for Research and Justice Advocacy (YORJA), a youth-led organization advancing advocacy and capacity-building for the youth in transitional justice. She works across diverse sectors including financial services, extractives and non-profit development. She has supported social impact initiatives such as providing pro bono legal services with FIDA Kenya on succession, child protection, and women’s rights, and contributing to gender and human rights-responsive policy integration in Kenya’s extractives industry, including the Tullow Oil Project. Regionally, Angeline serves as the East Africa Representative on the African Youth for Transitional Justice (AY4TJ) Taskforce of the African Union, where she advocates for meaningful youth engagement in peacebuilding and post-conflict processes. She is currently leading efforts to simplify and popularize the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) for youth audiences across Africa. Skills and expertise: I have strong skills in legal and policy analysis, research, and writing, particularly in human rights and transitional justice contexts. I am able to translate complex legal and policy issues into clear, practical outputs for diverse audiences. I also bring experience in advocacy and stakeholder engagement, including working with civil society, youth networks, and institutional partners. Reason for membership: I am seeking to join the network to deepen my engagement with practitioners and scholars working in justice, peacebuilding, and reconciliation. It will provide a platform for learning, knowledge exchange, and collaboration across different contexts. She is the Director kuYana Narratives (Strategic Communications & Campaign Advisory) founded in 2024. kuYana Narratives provides advisory services in strategy, political communication, radio rooms, political campaigns and operations to various stakeholders including civil society in Africa. Since inception, kuYana Narratives has provided strategic political communication services to national and international organisations and campaign advisory services to South African Non Profit Organisations and Global Movements. Thozama is a 2020 fellow of the Futurelect SADC Public Leadership Programme and a Trauma-Informed Leader through the Center for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation. Thozama holds a Bachelor\'s degree in Political Science and French from the University of the Western Cape, a Postgraduate Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from Stellenbosch University, an Honours Degree in Political Science specialising in Transitional Justice at the University of Witwatersrand, and she is an MA candidate in Political Science specialising in Reparations within Transitional Justice processes in Africa at the University of Witwatersrand. Thozama has international experience in LGBTQI+ human rights advocacy, political strategy and intelligence, communications and political campaigns. In 2022 she was elected as the Chairperson of the Bush Radio Board of Directors, Deputy Chairperson of the South African Coalition for Transitional Justice and Deputy Chairperson of the Hate Crimes Working Group; she holds these board positions as the first Black, queer woman. Skills and expertise: Political Campaigns, Reparative Justice, Memory Studies, Strategic Communications, Media and PR, Operations Reason for membership: I am currently enrolled in a MA Political Studies specialising in reparations in Africa. While I run my own company focused on strategic communications, I would like to have a network in transitional justice in Africa, to bring my professional and academic interests into continental work on transitional justice. We need to make the call for reparations louder through strategic communications and I believe that I bring both the academic knowledge and the professional skills to support this work long term. Reason for membership: Reason for Membership in the African Transitional Justice Network I am interested in joining the African Transitional Justice Network because I am deeply committed to human rights, peacebuilding, access to justice, and community resilience, particularly in conflict-affected and vulnerable communities. Through my work as Executive Director of ADJC (Action Pour le Développement des Jeunes au Congo), I have been actively engaged in supporting youth empowerment, gender equality, civic participation, and the protection of human dignity. My interest in transitional justice is rooted in the realities faced by many communities in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where conflict, displacement, violence, exclusion, and injustice continue to affect lives and limit opportunities for sustainable peace. I believe transitional justice is essential for promoting truth, accountability, healing, reconciliation, and inclusive recovery. By joining this network, I hope to learn from African experts and practitioners, strengthen my understanding of transitional justice approaches, and contribute grassroots perspectives from local communities. I am particularly interested in how transitional justice can support youth inclusion, women’s rights, peacebuilding, community dialogue, and long-term social transformation.
