    Bio:   PHILIP ADEMOLA OLAYOKU, has a doctorate in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Ibadan where he teaches as an adjunct. He consulted on the media and terrorism project for the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) and served on the international advisory board of the Medecins Sans Frontieres for developing modules on their Speaking Out Case Studies. His research interests include transitional Justice, security studies, ethnicity, digital power dynamics and transnational relations on which he has several research and policy publications.     Bio: Dr. Damian Etone is a Senior Lecturer in International Human Rights Law at the University of Stirling. He serves as the Director of the MSc Programme in Human Rights and Diplomacy, a program offered in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Etone holds an LLM (Distinction) in International Criminal/Human Rights Law from Bangor University (Wales) and a PhD in International Human Rights Law from the University of Adelaide (Australia). Dr. Etone is a co-founding coordinator of the Universal Periodic Review Academic Network (UPRAN), an international network of scholars focused on the UN’s Universal Periodic Review mechanism. His research expertise centers on international human rights law, with a particular focus on the participation of African states in global human rights mechanisms. He has published extensively in the areas of human rights and transitional justice, and is a International Criminal Law Case Reporter for Oxford University Press and recently as Editor of the monograph Human Rights and the UN Universal Periodic Review Mechanism: A Research Companion (2024). In 2023, Dr. Etone was appointed as an Academic Adviser to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), where he plays a critical role in assessing the academic merit and development potential of scholarship candidates. He also undertook a visiting scholarship at the University of Ghana Law School in 2023, further enhancing his international academic collaborations. Dr. Etone has received prestigious awards and recognitions throughout his career. He was a recipient of the Chevening Scholarship Award (2012-2013), a leadership scholarship funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and the Beacon of Enlightenment Scholarship Award (2014-2017).

    Reason for membership: Reason for Membership in the African Transitional Justice Network I am interested in joining the African Transitional Justice Network because I am deeply committed to human rights, peacebuilding, access to justice, and community resilience, particularly in conflict-affected and vulnerable communities. Through my work as Executive Director of ADJC (Action Pour le Développement des Jeunes au Congo), I have been actively engaged in supporting youth empowerment, gender equality, civic participation, and the protection of human dignity. My interest in transitional justice is rooted in the realities faced by many communities in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where conflict, displacement, violence, exclusion, and injustice continue to affect lives and limit opportunities for sustainable peace. Before that, she obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) in Rule of Law for Development from Loyola University Chicago, United States of America, and another Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa from the University of Pretoria, South Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom; a Barrister at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, Nigeria, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in French Language from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She was the Legal Advisor for the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), an organ of the African Union (AU), and has worked for the United Nations (UN), the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), the Institute for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA) and the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA). Ms Izobo is a 2025 Rise Up Leader, a 2023 Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellow, and a 2023 Alumna of the International Visitors Leadership Programme of the United States of America Department of State. She is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She received numerous academic awards and accolades in recognition of her work. Notably, Africa’s Top Legal Millennial – The Amazon of Women’s Rights, Kaduna State Honours Award for public service in Nigeria, SPE Top Pathfinder and Futurist Activist.

    Bio: Joseph Ben Kaifala is a Sierra Leonean writer and historian. He is the founder and principal of the Center for Memory and Reparations - facilitating remembrance and collective narratives around the Sierra Leonean civil war. Joseph is also the founder of the Jeneba Project - which provides educational opportunities to adolescent girls in Sierra Leone. He works in areas of International Law, Transitional Justice, Human Rights, and Education. He is currently a commissioner and chairman of Sierra Leone\'s Monuments and Relics Commission.
